HOG Chapter Ride - Veterans Day Parade - Huntsville

Event date:
Fri, 11/11/2022 - 8:10am to 2:30pm

HOG Chapter 4052!

Let's roll to honor those who served this great country!

Let's ride in the City of Huntsville's Veterans Day Parade. This ride is a closed Chapter ride...meaning only members and 1 guest per may participate.

Please plan to meet/stage @ RHD @ 8:10am on Friday, November 11.  KSU will occur at 8:40am.

What to expect:

**UPDATE** - November 11, 2022 - The Parade is a go as is this HOG Chapter ride in it!  Please press with the staging/KSU time as depicted in the details above!  Ride and have fun--and be safe!!

**UPDATE** - November 9, 2022 - THE PARADE IS A GO...WEATHERWISE...The parade organizers are working closely with WAFF weather experts to assess the day's rain.  Please continue to monitor this site for additional updates should we have them.

November 7, 2022 - Be aware--the lot we're staging in upon arrival to the parade area is gravel (should be packed gravel).  We advise bringing a kick-stand puck for extra precaution.

1.  We'll transport the flags we'll carry/display on the bikes while riding in the parade in a cage.  These are 3'x5' flags.  Please feel free (and you're highly encouraed) to mount other smaller flags or patriotic items on your bike as well.  Once at our parade line-up/staging location, we'll get the flags mounted/ready to be held on our bikes.  If you can help with riding with a flag...please let us know soon to arrange a mounting option.

2.  There will inevitably be some downtime from our staging spot arrival to parade begin time.  Bring a snack or two and plenty of water and/or cold weather gear.  Stay in tune with the weather so you remain safe and ride ready!

3.  Let's make sure we roll in as one unit...we've been told there can be some serious chaos in the parade staging areas...we don't need to add to it by straggling in randomly.  Please note our meet/stage times at RHD above.

4.  If you bring something in/around the parade staging area, pack it out (trash, etc.).

5.  We must follow any/all Parade Marshal's requests...only exception, if a police officer overrides those instructions.  Just an FYI.

6.  We can't be throwing any candy to kids/the crowd.  We can only HAND people candy...hard to do when rolling down the road...don't throw it.  We're told this will warrant a quick end to your parade day )-:

7.  We must ride with our helmets.

8.  The parade route is approximately 2 miles long.  There will be slow-go riding, and some slight uphill/downhill moves.  Please avoid big gaps--especially to the parade group to our front.  Avoid any prolonged stops (unless for an emergency).  Once the parade ends, plan to continue rolling towards exiting the area (so we don't bottleneck the parade end area).  We'll stop somewhere soon after the parade ends to pull down/re-cage the flags for transport back to RHD.

9.  Remember:  Be Kind, Be Patriotic, and Have Fun...that's the rules.

Let's ride to support our Veterans!  Thanks to those that have RSVP'd already to ride...awesome!  If you haven't RSVP'd to ride...please do so...join in!!

NOTE:  Please check this website throughout the week...we'll lead with clearly marked updates if required.
